This weekly class offers a rich cultural experience through foundational hula practice, aligning body, mind, and spirit for holistic wellness and connection.\n\n\n\nLed by respected Kumu Tia, students will learn hula basics, cultural protocol, and Hawaiian values (mea waiwai) in a supportive environment designed for personal growth and cultural appreciation.\n\n\n\nWhether you are a local ʻohana member or visiting the island, this is an invitation to move with meaning, honor tradition, and embody aloha.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n✨ Class Details\n\n\n\nWho is this class for?\n\n\n\nThis class is open to all levels and ages, with a space especially welcoming to adults of all genders who are eager to connect with the traditions of Hawaiʻi through hula. Beginners are encouraged, and experienced dancers are also welcome.\n\n\n\nWhat to bring:\n\n\n\n\nA pāʻū skirt or sarong (no fringe); loaners available for first-timers\n\n\n\nA notebook for class learning (no recordings unless permitted)\n\n\n\nWater for hydration\n\n\n\nHair tied back (braid, bun)\n\n\n\nNo jewelry or wearable tech (medical exceptions only)\n\n\n\nMost importantly: a grateful heart and plenty of aloha 🌈\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n🌿 About the Instructor: Kumu Tia\n\n\n\nWith over 30 years of experience, Kumu Tia brings deep-rooted passion for preserving and sharing the arts of hula, ʻōlelo (language), oli (chants), mele (songs), and moʻolelo (stories). She has taught in public schools, private settings, charter programs, and community colleges across Hawaiʻi, including University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.
