Host A Retreat

Your group will love it here!

Do you have a student following that would love to experience an EduVactation in the rainforest of Hawaii?

Eco-luxury retreats in Hawaii

As a group leader, facilitator or teacher, our Group Retreats Program is an easy way for you to host an event with a group of eight to twenty people.  Mile Marker 12 Farms offers group pricing for retreats and events of 8 to 20 people.

Our farm overnight accommodations and classroom spaces may be rented out for single or multiple day events. We have daily classes that can be included in your programming as an enhancement (i.e yoga, permaculture, hula, compassionate communication), OR we can simply provide privacy for your event.

We request that you plan your program six or more months in advance, in order to assure availability of accommodations and meeting facilities.

"I have stayed at Hawaiian Sanctuary twice, for three weeks each time, in the last year. The land is truly sacred, the community spirit is warm and alive! Each person who is part of this place brings their unique wisdom and love for permaculture, yoga, Hawiian spirituality and dance/hula (just to name a few). It is easy to love this way of life and want to spend time learning all the ways to make life on the earth a gentler one. I, for one, bring students to become Yoga Teachers to train on this amazing land. Blessings to all the Hawaiian Sanctuary staff for being so supportive of these efforts and always being so accommodating with food, friendship and good vibes. Aloha!"

This is the tropical rainforest with an average of 148 inches of rain per year. The US average is 37. You may schedule your retreat any time of the year and simply plan for rain, luscious foods and many rainbows.

Will my cell phone work?

Yes! Most cell service providers get great reception on most parts of our property.  Overall, AT&T works best on the island.

Is WiFi internet available?

Wifi internet is available in many areas of the property. Usage is free. Please note that we are on satellite internet which has very limited bandwidth available.  Although you will have unlimited access to basic browsing and email, we do not allow large file downloads, netflix, etc as this will affect everyone's usage. If you need to download large files we recommend you either plan to increase your cellphone's data plan for tethering, or do your large downloads in town. Thank you for your cooperation.

Are there any wild animals / creatures?

We are fortunate in the fact that most of our wild animals and insects on the island are generally harmless.

It is likely that you may see geckos, mongoose, and wild pigs.

Also, mosquitos are very present, so be sure to bring some natural insect repellent 😉

There are coqui frogs at night that make a sound through the morning. Many love it, others prefer to wear earplugs.

We have friendly dogs, two cats, and beautiful birds like ducks, white fluffy chickens, peacocks and turkeys that roam the gardens.

Is smoking permitted?

Although we prefer to have a completely smoke free environment, we do have a designated smoking area on site.

Do you provide transportation to and from the Hilo airport?

We offer affordable transportation for our guests. The price is dependent on the number of people in your group and number of trips necessary. Contact us for a quote on an airport pickup.  The regular taxi rate is about $80 total for 4 passengers in a shared taxi van. The cost of pickup and drop off for your participants is NOT included in our group rates unless specified to be included.

Do I need to rent a car?

We are located within walking distance to the nearest town (Pahoa). There are many natural attractions in the vicinity. These can be visited by arranging a paid adventure with a guide. However, If you prefer to explore all that is there to on the island, renting a car from the airport is a good option.

Are children welcome at HS?

Children are always welcome, however, we do not provide childcare. We can provide contact information for several reliable childcare providers in the area.
