Weekly Bee Dance Party with Uplifter, Mauka & Esdhlacoda
December 15, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm$10
We are buzzing with excitement to present the newest phase of our Friday night dance medicine — BEE DANCE!
Our intention is to bring together our community in unity-hive consciousness by honoring and learning from the Bees. Each dance benefits the Gentle Hive Bee Foundation.
The evening begins with a Bee ceremony co-facilitated by Shane the Bee Charmer, Emily Kaye and Amberay. The honey elixir this week is infused with Blue Lotus. Our ceremony leads straight into our dance journey, guided by a different DJ each week.
The dancing is just one of the many dimensions to explore each Friday night. Bee Dance regularly features VJ esdhlacoda and a special projection mapped lightshow to enhance the experience. Sit and sip tea at our cozy tea bar. Relax and get buffed in our comfy squish zone. Let local fire dancers mesmerize you under the night’s spell of stars. BEE DANCE is infinite!
Uplifter arrived to our dance scene on a wave of steady grooves he rode all the way from New Orleans to Colorado and onto the Big Island. Quickly becoming one of the most demanded talents island-wide. Headlining everything from weekly gatherings and shows for Plenty Productions, to legendary private events — like Petting Zoo.
With New Orleans roots and 20 years experience behind the turntables, Uplifter blends the traditional Jamaican sound system style with American house. All craftily layered with booty shaking electronic productions. Expect the freshest of body-moving breaks! Crunk and bass in all the right places.
He began his musical career as a drummer exploring psychedelic rock that eventually made his way to Kauai where he harnessed his gifts as a Reggae drummer. Some of the tracks he cut with local bands still play on Hawaiian radio today. Migrating to Northern California, he found success touring with various California based and Jamaican artists. Through his love of the rooted hypnotic rhythms of Reggae, and the introspective psychedelia of subculture rock, he was naturally drawn to the electronic movement.
Mauka studied digital composition through the Berkeley School of Music, which gave him the tools and a platform to merge diverse genres of music with his own original creative stylings. As a DJ, he has a natural ear for infectious, eclectic, and evolved musical compositions making him an appreciated song selecta.
He now resides on the Big Island of Hawaii, bringing with him a mix of influences from the decades long musical journey forged by his world travels, spiritual experiences, and performer collaborations. Mauka strives to create a sacred container with positive music, a safe haven for the soul to explore the frequency of sound and consciousness through movement.
Hope to see you this Friday!
