Discover the ways indigenous agroforestry principles can combine with modern organic agricultural practices to optimize the health and vitality of your home garden or orchard.
Evan Ryan is an agricultural landscape consultant, designer, farmer, project manager, author and educator. He is the author of Hawai‘i Home Gardens: Growing Vegetables in the Subtropics Using Holistic Methods, a permaculture based guide to vegetable growing. His focus is applying permaculture systems to production agriculture, utilizing holistic land care practices to nurture resilient environments rich in clean air, fresh water, nourishing food and community. Hawaiian Sanctuary is proud to present: Plant Aloha, a FREE educational series of sustainable farming classes. Every Thursday morning, from 9:00am until 12:30pm, with special Saturday monthly offerings, led by local and visiting experts.
The Plant Aloha project is supported, in part, by the County of Hawaii, Research & Development. We are looking for support to complete and enhance this amazing FREE program. Please give what you can.
Each class starts promptly with a lecture and Q&A before a hands-on farm experience. Come prepared with notepad and writing utensil, closed toed shoes, sun hat, and gloves.
